Lacrosse Downs Defending State Champs in OT

Bomber Lacrosse traveled to Dublin to take on Jerome High School last night in a rematch of the 2023 OHSAA Lacrosse State Championship. The Bombers were able to get a bit of revenge as they took down Jerome 16-15 in overtime thanks to a Khalif Hocker strike.

A tight contest all the way through, a Brian O'Connor take towards the end of the half put the Bombers up 8-7 at intermission. The game was a stalemate in the third as the Bombers maintained a one-goal leading heading into the fourth quarter, 11-10.

Jerome took a brief lead in the fourth, but Hocker struck quickly to tie the contest 12-12 with 9:00 remaining. After another Jerome lead at 13-12, Jonnie Guttman and Spencer Stegbauer secured back-to-back goals to take a 14-13 lead with 6:30 remaining.

Luke Sprong put the Bombers up 15-14 with 4:00 minutes left in the fourth but Jerome was able to notch things up at 15-15 to send the game into OT.

In overtime, Hocker was able to find some daylight to send in the game winning goal from a wild angle.

The Bombers sit at 15-2 heading into the final game of the season when they host Olentangy Liberty at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon at RDI Stadium. Tickets can be purchased here.
