Michael Gordon, M.Ed, AT, CSCS

Head Athletic Trainer
Michael started at St. X as the Head ATC in 2005, and has been in his dream job ever since! A graduate of the Athletic Training program at the University of Cincinnati in 2004, and a Masters in Education from Xavier University's Coaching Education and Athlete Development program in 2017, he is now a house divided (especially being a Finneytown HS graduate, and being against St. X all those years!). He has worked with the NFL as an Athletic Trainer "Eye in the Sky", as well as Cincinnati Bengals as a help Athletic Trainer since he did his first rotation with them all the way back in 2000. He is active in his church Crossroads, and resides in Oakley with his wife, Sara, and 3 kids Fitz, Max, and Reece.Â

Ken Rushford, M.Ed, AT, CSCS

Assistant Athletic Trainer
Ken started at St. X in 2013 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer and quickly found a restored love for athletic training at the GCL rival from his HS alma mater Elder. A graduate of the Athletic Training program at the University of Cincinnati in 2004, and a Masters in Education from Xavier University's Coaching Education and Athlete Development program in 2017, Mike and him share strong academic and career passions. He worked for Wellington Orthopedics and Glen Este HS for 10 years prior to St X. He currently lives on the Westside with his wife Becca, and 5 kids, Kellen, Ayden, Annibelle, Makenleigh, and Kelsie.
Hannah Schroeder, MS, ATC

Assistant Athletic Trainer
Hannah started at St. Xavier High School in June of 2025 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and she is very excited to hit the ground running after completing a rotation as an AT student here at St. X during the fall of 2024 season. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati in 2024 with her Bachelor degree in health science, and a Masters degree in Athletic Training in 2025. During her time at UC she gained athletic training experience at the high school, collegiate, and professional (NFL) settings. Hannah is from McComb Ohio and has lived in Cincinnati for 5 years now!
Team Physicians at St. X
Kevin Reilly, MD

Dr. Kevin E. Reilly '82 has dedicated his career to helping people of all ages stay active and healthy—just as he once did as a student-athlete here at St. Xavier. A proud Bomber who wrestled and played football during his time at St. X, Dr. Reilly now serves as one of our team physicians, bringing his expertise in general orthopedics and sports medicine full circle. While most of his patients recover without surgery, his specialties include total and partial joint replacement and arthroscopy.
In addition to supporting St. Xavier, Dr. Reilly is a team physician for the Cincinnati Bengals, his alma mater St. Xavier High School—where he once wrestled and played football—Seton High School, and several other schools and organizations, including the McGing Irish Dancers. A former Academic All-American football player at The College of the Holy Cross, he combines deep clinical knowledge with an athlete’s mindset. Dr. Reilly lives in Cincinnati with his wife and six children—and remains a proud member of the Bomber family.

Rob Pettit, MD

Dr. Robert Pettit '06 is a Cincinnati native and a proud member of St. Xavier High School’s 2005 State Championship football team. After earning his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Pettit completed his orthopedic residency at OSU Wexner Medical Center. He further honed his expertise with a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the renowned Beth Israel New England Baptist Hospital, affiliated with Harvard and Tufts.
Dr. Pettit specializes in knee and shoulder preservation techniques, aiming to delay or avoid joint replacement in young, active patients. He is also certified in Mako robotic-assisted knee and partial knee replacements. His clinical research has been published in high-impact journals and presented at national and international conferences.
Currently, Dr. Pettit serves as a team physician for the Cincinnati Reds, Florence Y’alls, Clark Montessori, and several local high schools. He previously served as an assistant team physician for the Boston Celtics, New England Free Jacks (Major League Rugby), and Merrimack College. Dr. Pettit is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, where he leads the Fort Thomas location.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Pettit enjoys spending time with his wife, Alison, a fellow healthcare professional, and their growing family. They are thrilled to be back in Cincinnati, surrounded by family and friends.
