Lacrosse Takes Down Upper Arlington in Top-Ten Regional Showdown

On March 28th, USA Lacrosse Magazine released their national top-25 and regional top-10 rankings list. For the Midwest Region Top-10, St. Xavier clocked in at 8th in the region while Upper Arlington settled in at 5th. No one told the Bombers and after last Saturday's result, that ranking is likely to change.

In a rematch of last year's state semifinal, Upper Arlington raced out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter. After the Bombers pulled to within one at 5-4, UA netted another two goals to take a 7-5 halftime lead.

A Khalif Hocker goal tied the game at 8-8 with 3:25 left in the third quarter was followed up by another Hocker goal just 30 seconds later to give the Bombers a lead they wouldn't relinquish. St. Xavier saw their lead blossom to four at 13-9 and after a goal each that's where the lead would stay for the Bombers, winning by a final score of 14-10.

Hocker led the Bomber attack with five goals and two assists. Fellow sophomore, Brendan Deeley, followed behind with two goals of his own. On the night, the Bomber offensive attack saw 12 of their 14 goals scored by freshmen or sophomores.One of the lone non-underclassmen goals was scored by Bomber senior defenseman and Michigan commit, Max Bonner. Trent Yelton controlled the game defensively with eight saves on the night.

The Bombers now sit at a perfect 6-0 on the season. They'll take about a week off before they head down to Nashville for a pair of games over Easter weekend. They'll take on Montgomery Bell Academy at 12:00 pm on April 7th at MBA and then take on Ravenwood High School on April 8th at 12:00 pm at Ravenwood.
