6/1/2026 9:06:00 AM

The St. Xavier Bombers hosted GCL South rival Moeller Crusaders in the regional championship Friday evening. The Bombers looked to continue their success from their last match up against the Crusaders were they cruised to a dominant 18-6 win on the Crusader's home turf.

The Bombers opened the scoring immediately taking the ball into Crusader territory after senior Max Violet won the opening face off for the Bombers allowing the offense to get set up and creating space for junior midfielder Ethan Cole to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead with 11:35 in the first quarter. The team continued to keep their foot on the gas as Spencer Stegbauer, August Betz, and Ryder Munz would all notch a goal as the Bombers would come out to a commanding 8-0 lead to finish the first quarter.

The Bombers would continue to dominate the Crusaders in the second quarter, creating opportunities and knifing through the defense for easy shots on net. The midfield ball movement kept Moeller completely off balance, allowing the Bombers to methodically extend their lead. By the time both teams headed into halftime, St. Xavier had firmly broken the game open with a 12-3 advantage.

The halftime break did little to slow St. Xavier's momentum. The Bombers ruthlessly continued their dominance offensively in the third quarter, controlling the time of possession and suffocating any attempt at a Crusader comeback. Tacking on three more unanswered goals, they extended their lead to 16-5 heading into the fourth quarter.

With the game well in hand, the Bombers utilized the final frame to showcase their depth and manage the clock. The defensive unit remained stout, turning away Moeller's final desperation attacks and clearing the ball with precision. When the final horn sounded, St. Xavier celebrated a dominant regional championship victory by a final score of 18-5.

With this win the Bombers have grabbed their fifth straight regional championship. They look hungry for another state championship as they face the mighty tough 18-3 Upper Arlington Golden Bears in the final four who have rolled through their side of the bracket as well defeating their opponents by a combined score of 77-18. The Bombers will have a tough high powered disciplined offense to get through to make it to the state final.
