A dominant performance by the St. Xavier divers placed the AquaBombers in a great position to garner the program's 76
th league title.
Gavin Hang (SO) led the way earning the gold. He had plenty of company on the podium as Will Behimer (SR) and David Gerth (SO) and
Adam Blome (SR) placed 2
nd, 4
th and 5
th respectively.
Following the graduation of Ben Cutforth, last year's victor, Hang moved from 4
th to 1
st scoring 43 more points than a year ago. Gerth eclipsed his last year's outing by 38 points. Blome earned a spot in the GCL line-up and delivered. In all, the foursome racked up 50 points for the diving portion of the GCL – 2 short of a "perfect score". The meet was held at Northern Kentucky University on Saturday, January 23.
The previous two weekends, the "Board Boys" were in action at West Clermont. On January 9,
James Knight (FR), Blome and AJ Schuermann (SR) went 1 – 3 in a six dive competition. At the same event, competing in an 11 dive format Hang, Behimer and Gerth placed 3
rd, 5
th and 8
th respectively.
Unable to offer the Southwest District Classic this year, the West Clermont Classic was developed and a field of 25 were on hand in a prelim/final format requiring eleven dives. The AquaBombers continued to show, not only improvement, but significant quality against a top notch field. Hang claimed second with a personal best of 394.80. Behimer earned fifth with 326.60 points, while Gerth finished 16
th among the division one athletes with 214.45 points.
Coach Unthank and his squad of six, working under difficult circumstances, have competed often and well. Sectionals lie ahead on the road to Canton.

"There is no question that we are St. Xavier Swimming and Diving. While circumstances keep us apart at times, we are in this journey together. The performance of our divers working with Coach Unthank is an integral part of what and how we do things," summarized head coach
Tim Beerman.
