ALUMNI MEET A SPLASHING SUCCESS
Decades ago, Bill Keating, Jr. instituted a holiday tradition for the Long Blue Lane. Billy who passed away in 2017, would have been extremely pleased with this year's edition. December 26 is the day many AquaBombers mark on their calendars for an evening of competition, camaraderie and conversation. And the crowd that showed up this year was amazing. It was estimated at nearly 300 celebrating St. Xavier Swimming and Diving and Water Polo. What a party with plenty of food for all.
Multiple winners
Tucker Charles [JR] (50 Free, 50 Back, 200 Free Relay) and Will Farrell [FR] (100 IM, 50 Breast,) set the tone for some fast efforts from the current squad. 56% of the team had best times – everyone was racing. Grant House produced the swim of the evening with the 3
rd fastest IM in the U.S. for 2025. 47.1!!!!
Anna and Hatic Safet II led the way from the parents/alumni group. They were joined by dozens of other devoted and involved family and friends filling multitudes of roles.
"It was truly gratifying to see so many guys return. From school record holders to inspired Group III athletes, they all continue our journey together. The smiles, hugs, nicknames and so much more make for a true Christmas gift," reminisced assistant head coach
Tom Keefe.
"Sharing the event with my son and well over 150 current and former AquaBombers is unlike any holiday party. Historic Keating Natatorium was rocking," reflected head coach
Jim Brower.
"Special events like this help to define the unique quality of our program. Coach
John Zink did a masterful job in coordinating it from the current team perspective. Sharing the deck with past and present athletes is something to rejoice," concluded Aquatics Program Coordinator
Dave Albert.
