Catholic Invite - Spirited Success

CATHOLIC INVITE – SPIRITED SUCCESS
When you start and finish the meet with a BLT (Best Lifetime), you may wonder what happened in between.  The AquaBombers participating alongside 10 other teams from Ohio and Kentucky, threw down a remarkable 81% BLT's on their way to a sixth-place finish in a very fast event.  The Long Blue Lane was represented by 19 athletes; many being challenged in significantly longer races.
A nearly packed historic Keating Natatorium was the venue for the session hosted by Notre Dame Academy (KY) and directed by Marcie Dressman.
Top scores were:
  • 200 Medley Relay – A 13th (Ben Booms [FR], Peter Steinert [JR], Seb Hodges [SO], Gideon Muneyemana [SO]
  • 200 Meley Relay – B 15th (Luca Brol [JR], Jurek Armada [FR], Hank Plunkett [FR], Graydon Gist [SO])
  • 500 Free – George Marsland [SO] 16th
  • 200 Free Relay – A 10th (Steinert, Nico Palacio-Vega [JR], Parker Hill [FR], Eddie Leder [FR])
  • 200 Free Relay – B 16th (Will Blewett [FR], Will McCarthy [SO], Marcello Serrangeli [FR], Brol)
  • 400 Free Relay – A 10th (Marsland, Leder, Liam Cornwall [FR], Hodges)
  • 400 Free Relay – B 14th  Owen Villegas [SO], Toby Lahey [FR], Oscar Ihnen [FR], Theo Cornwall [FR]
Peter Steinert had 6 BLT's!



 
Those participating in the meet were joined by many of their teammates to enhance an extremely spirited and focused attitude.

  • 87% STP's (Season Top Performances) 100% had multiples
  • 81% BLT's (Best Lifetimes) 100% had at least one
  • 8 events faster than last year
  • Class Act  Juniors (2), Sophomores (6), Freshmen (11)
  • 750 entries in last 22 days





 
  • COACHES COMMENTS –
"Spending the entire session with some of our younger athletes was both rewarding and inspiring.They raised the bar with enthusiasm and focus," reflected head coach Jim Brower.
 
"Marcie Dressman and the volunteers from Notre Dame Academy put on a quality meet.We were please to be invited and find success stories with each of our athletes," noted assistant head coach Tom Keefe.
 
"We have come so far in so many ways.10 weeks ago, some of our young athletes were learning the four strokes.Saturday, they showed remarkable advancements and their attitudes reflect a positive approach to our sport," reported coach Zach Vogelpohl.
 
"What a focused and inspired group we had the chance to coach at the Catholic Invite.They supported one another for 7 hours and we competed with intensity," summarized coach Luke DiGiacomo.
