Water Polo Wraps Up Regular Season at Rockford Invite

The St. Xavier Varsity Water Polo team wrapped up their regular season in spectacular fashion, showcasing their tenacity and skill during a weekend tournament in Rockford, Michigan. The Bombers came home with a 3-1 record from the event.Â
The weekend kicked off with a tough match against Pioneer High School (MI), where St. Xavier faced a formidable challenge, ultimately falling 8-18. However, the team quickly regrouped, demonstrating resilience that would define their tournament performance.
In the next game against Hudsonville High School, the St. Xavier players dug deep, clinching a hard-fought 11-10 victory. The tension was palpable as each goal brought the team closer to victory, and the players' unwavering spirit shone through.
St. Xavier continued their winning streak with a commanding 10-2 triumph over Birmingham Groves High School. The team displayed exceptional teamwork and skill, leaving no doubt about their determination to make a splash in the upcoming state championships.
The weekend culminated in a decisive 12-7 victory against Rockford High School, where the St. Xavier squad demonstrated their prowess in both offense and defense.
With an overall tournament record of 3-1, the team is now primed for the Ohio High School Water Polo State Championships. Set to kick off on Saturday, October 19th, St. Xavier will face off against Worthington Kilbourne at Princeton High School at 11:20 AM. Should they emerge victorious, they will take on the winner of the match between Thomas Worthington and Princeton on Sunday, October 20th at 1:00 PM.
