The St. Xavier Bombers capped off an impressive postseason run with a third-place finish at the State Water Polo Tournament this past weekend. As the No. 5 seed entering the state bracket, the Bombers battled their way to the bronze medal, defeating Thomas Worthington 14–13 in a thrilling finale.
The victory over Worthington marked the second straight upset for St. X, who also knocked off No. 4 seed Mason 14–12 in last weekend's quarterfinals. The Bombers showed resilience and heart throughout the tournament, outworking higher-seeded opponents and showcasing their trademark defensive grit and offensive balance.
St. Xavier finishes the 2025 season with a strong 22–15 record, rounding out one of the most competitive seasons in recent program history.
Several Bombers earned statewide recognition for their standout play:
-
Dominic Walters – First Team All-Ohio and recognized as the Top Center in the state
-
Dan Ahrens – Third Team All-Ohio
-
Lucas Mijares – Honorable Mention All-Ohio
Congratulations to Water Polo on an outstanding season and a well-deserved spot among Ohio's best!
