Don DiGiacomo named Head Baseball Coach

After an extensive search, St. Xavier High School announces that Don DiGiacomo has been named as the new Head Baseball Coach effective immediately.

Coach DiGiacomo, or Coach D as his athletes call him, has been a part of the St. Xavier community for the past 37 years and has coached at least one sport since his arrival. He has been on the coaching staff for 13 state championships over the years in football, swimming, cross country and in 2003 when the Bombers captured the title in baseball.

"Coach D's passion and experience for St. Xavier and baseball make him the right leader and mentor for our student-athletes. No one will work harder or dedicate himself more than Coach D as he builds upon the foundation of St. Xavier Athletics and baseball. He knows what it takes to win championships, but more importantly he knows what it takes to form our student-athletes into Men for Others in the Jesuit tradition," said Athletic Director Brian Reinhart.

Coach D earned his undergraduate degree in education from UC in '86 and followed it up with a Masters in Sports Administration from XU in '96.  He currently serves as the head of the Physical Education and Health Department at St. Xavier and is excited for his new role as head baseball coach.

"During my multiple years in athletics, I have been fortunate to work with many quality student-athletes and coaches. As I accept the position of head baseball coach at St. Xavier, I am humbled and cognizant of the responsibilities, opportunities, and challenges. Building on past successes, coupled with working in a collaborative manner with our players, fellow coaches and others, gives us the opportunity to have a successful experience on and off the diamond. I am extremely appreciative to be entrusted with the care and development of our young men. I look forward to coaching THE LONG BLUE BASELINE".

Coach DiGiacomo and his wife Mollie live in Monfort Heights and are active parishioners at St. Lawrence Parish.  They have two children, Cece and Luke '18.
