As the season comes to a close and playoffs on the horizon coaches come will start coming together to shape the All-GCL South team selections alongside their picks for the Player, Coach, and Pitcher of the year winners. The first of which announced was senior
Jack Ryan taking home his second straight GCL South Player of the Year award. He's the second player in Bomber history to win the award in back-to-back seasons since 1995-1996 Jason Basil. Basil, a former number 26 baseball prospect by Baseball America and 1996 Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year hit for a school record .507 average in 1996, a record that still remains untouched today.
Ryan, a four year starter and Boston College commit, has been the heart and soul of the Bombers lineup and rotation slashing a career slashline of .368 average, four home runs, 64 RBIs, .546 slugging percentage, and .476 on base percentage to go with 180 innings with 203 strikeouts, 2.251 ERA, and 1.137 WHIP.
He has been absolutely electric at the plate this season hitting a GCL leading .448 batting average and tied for the most home runs with three. While adding career highs in slugging at .701, on base percentage (.557), RBIs (21) and hits (30). While on the mound, his best season came in 2024 as a sophomore where he logged 56.2 innings to a 1.853 ERA, 1.041 WHIP, 3.06 K/BB ratio and 4-3 record. On the bump this season he's continued to be dominant for the Bombers with a 4-2 record over 35 innings. Accumulating a 2.2 ERA and 1.171 WHIP.
The two-way star will look to lead his team to the state title leading the Bombers to their best record since 2021, where the team went as far as the regional semifinals where they lost in a hard fought GCL South battle with Elder 7-4. With his strong bat and powerful arm on the mound the Bombers look poised for a deep playoff run with the regular season wrapping up this week.
