The St. Xavier Bombers extended their postseason dominance on Wednesday night, dispatching the Lakota East Thunderhawks in straight sets during the OHSAA Boys Volleyball Regional Semifinals. The 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 victory marks a roaring postseason run for the Bombers, sending them directly to the Regional Championship match this Saturday with immense momentum.

From the opening serve, St. Xavier's length and disciplined scheme dictated the tempo. The Bombers relied on highly efficient, low-error volleyball to systematically dismantle the Thunderhawks' defense, keeping the opposing blockers off-balance all night.

Senior outside hitter Joe Taggart was absolute lightning on the pins, dominating the net with a match-high 18 kills on 31 total attacks while maintaining a razor-sharp hitting efficiency to anchor the Bombers' offense. He was masterfully set up by junior Leo Miller, who orchestrated the fast-tempo offense by recording 20 assists alongside 4 digs.

Defensively, senior libero Luke Sorce provided a masterclass in back-row stability, anchoring the defense with 11 crucial digs and heavily disrupting Lakota East's rhythm by serving up 3 aces. At the net, freshman middle blocker Ben Ferris stepped up in the high-stakes environment, recording 4 kills and a match-high 3 blocks to close down the middle of the court. Senior Ben Adkins also provided crucial offensive support, pounding home 7 kills to keep the pressure on the Thunderhawks.

With the victory, St. Xavier punches its ticket to the Regional Finals on Saturday, setting up a highly anticipated, all-Greater Catholic League (GCL) South showdown for a berth in the State Final Four. The Bombers will face the winner of the heavyweight semifinal matchup between regional #1 seed Archbishop Moeller and #3 seed Elder. The regional final guarantees a clash of familiar titans. If Moeller advances, it sets up a rematch against a regular-season powerhouse, while an Elder upset would set the stage for another classic chapter of one of Cincinnati's finest high school sports rivalries. No matter the opponent, the Bombers look primed to ride their wave of momentum into Saturday with a state tournament berth on the line.
