The Bowling Bombers played host to the La Salle Lancers on Friday January 9th at Rollhouse Lanes.  The Lancers have beaten the Bombers 7 matches in a row and old the overall series at 66 and 22.

In game one, the Bombers struggled on the lanes in converting spare shots.  Only 3 Bombers completed their games with Luke Stigall rolling a 212, Bradley Giuffre throwing a 192, and Joseph Geers putting up a 192.  The Lancers had 3 bowlers crack 200+ to take an early lead of 922 to 861.  

With a 61 pin deficit to make up the Bombers had to find the transition early.  Bradley Giuffre found the pocket early and often, putting a 252 up for a match-high series of 444.  Mason Carota rolled a 229 for the Bombers with Jack Kaiser rolling a 216.  Joseph Geers ended his 371 series with a 215 and Luke Stigall rolled a 179 for a 391 series.  The Lancers rolled four games of 204 or better to throw a 958 while the Bombers rolled a 1091.  Going to bakers, the Bombers lead was 1952 to 1880.  

In game 1 of bakers, the Lancers took a big chunk out of the lead with a 222 to 195.  In game 2, the Bombers bounced back with a 180 to 158.  In game 3, the Lancers cut into the lead again with a 206 to the Bombers 180.  In game 4 with a 41 pin lead, the Bombers closed frames to roll a 174 while the Lancers shot a 179.  

The Bombers win at home 2681 to 2645.  The Bombers move to 3 and 4 on the season and 3 and 3 in the GCL while the Lancers fall to 3 and 4 on the year and 3 and 3 overall.  

Bomber Strength:

With just the 23rd win in program history over the Lancers, the Bombers due so for the first time since November 23, 2023.  Luke Stigall joins Joseph Geers as the only active Bombers with more than 10,000 career pins.  Luke sits at 10,220 and 38th all time.  Joseph Geers is 156 pins away from being only the 25th Bomber to roll 15,000 career pins.  

Record Performances

Bardley Giufre's 252 is the 152nd best individual score in school history.  The teams 1091 game ranks as the 29th best team game in school history.  

Upcoming Schedule:

The Bombers continue tournaments in January with the Lancer Baker Bash on Sunday the 11th, before an evening Match against Elder at Western Bowl on the 13th.  They then roll in back to back tournaments with the Cardinal Classic on the 18th and the King's Classic on the 19th.  The Bombers then finish up individual GCL matches with Moeller on the 23rd and travel to La Salle on the 28th.

Elder has a 3 game lead in the GCL sitting 6-0 followed by St. Xavier and La Salle tied at 3 and 3, and Moeller at 0 - 6.
