Bombers Move to Even in the GCL

Beat Crusaders at Home

St. Xavier Bowling returned to GCL play on Friday against the Moeller Crusaders.  The Bombers looked to return to .500 in GCL play and to continue a 6 game win streak that dates back to February 2nd, 2024 when the Crusaders upset the Bombers for the second time in 2024 with a 2653 to 2618 win in a quad match, the first upset of the year was on January 9, 2024 when Moeller beat the Bombers 2808 to 2797.  

Bombers Beat Crusaders

In game one, the Bombers came out strong early.  Bradley Giuffre and Luke Stigall peppered the pocket for games of 243 and 225 while Joseph Geers kept his game mostly clean for a 213.  Mason Carota added a 194 and Jack Kaiser pushed the Bombers over 1000 with his 170.  The Crusaders high man for game one was Joe Fette with a 173.  After one, the Bombers led 1045 to 680.  

 

In game two, Luke Stigall rolled a 230 for a 455 series and Joe Geers shot a 208 for a 421 series.  Bradley Giuffre finished his 406 series with a 163.  Ian McConnell and Nolan Namaky shot games of 161 and 146 for the Bombers as they settled in for a 908.  Jamison Keenan shot a 189 for the Crusaders as they put in a 733.  Going to bakers, the Bombers led 1953 to 1413.  

 

In bakers, the Bombers added to their lead with games of 181, 208, 171, and 166 for a 726 series with the Crusaders putting in a 599.  The Bombers win 2679 to 2009.

In bakers, Luke Stigall closed 90% of his frames with 6 strikes.  

 

Record Performances

The Bombers move to 74 and 16 against the Moeller Crusaders.  Luke Stigall's 455 series is 140th best in school history.  The team's 1045 ranks 108th in school history.  

 

Upcoming Schedule:

The Bombers' last head-to-head GCL match has them traveling to La Salle on the 28th.  

In February, the Bombers begin to wind down the season with the East vs West tournament on the 1st, Senior Night against Lakota West on the 3rd, an away match to Lebanon on the 4th, and the final GCL Match of the year with the Quad at Western Bowl on the 6th.  They then hit the final week of the year with Walnut Hills on the 9th and the Tiger End of Season tournament in Columbus on the 14th.  

 

Around the GCL:

Elder beat La Salle on Wednesday, the 21st, 3019 to 2822 and Moeller won against Roger Bacon on the 22nd, 2209 to 2135.       
Elder now has a 4-game lead in the GCL while playing host to Moeller next week with the Bombers traveling to Northwest Lanes against La Salle.  Elder looks to clinch the GCL South title with a win against Moeller before heading to the Western Bowl Quad with 3 points on the line.  

Elder sits atop the standings 8-0, with a two-way tie in second with La Salle and the Bombers at 4-4, and Moeller sitting at 0-8.
