Bomber Basketball Snaps Wyoming's Undefeated SeasonĀ
In a battle between two of Ohio's top high school basketball teams, St. Xavier handed Wyoming its first loss of the season with a 43-36 victory on Tuesday night. The Bombers used a balanced scoring attack and relentless defense to grind out the road win, improving their record to 16-3 while Wyoming fell to 17-1.
Ā
St. Xavier jumped out to a narrow 6-5 lead after the first quarter, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. The Bombers found their groove in the second quarter, led by Jacob Wassler's scoring inside and Donovan Waleskowski's perimeter shooting. St. Xavier outscored Wyoming 13-5 in the period to take a 19-10 lead into halftime.Ā
Ā
Wyoming made its push in the third quarter, spearheaded by standout Darren Gray, who poured in a game-high 16 points. The Cowboys outscored the Bombers 14-11 in the quarter, cutting the deficit to six heading into the final period. However, St. Xavier's composure in the clutch proved to be the difference-maker.Ā
Ā
The Bombers sealed the victory at the free-throw line, hitting seven of nine attempts in the fourth quarter. Wassler led the way with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Waleskowski added 12 points. Jack Ryan provided key minutes off the bench, chipping in eight points and four rebounds.Ā
Ā
St. Xavier's defense limited Wyoming to just 38.5% shooting from the field and a mere 11.1% from beyond the arc. The Bombers also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Wyoming 23-12, and capitalized on their second-chance opportunities.Ā
Ā
With the win, St. Xavier strengthens its resume as a contender for postseason success. The Bombers will look to build on this momentum as they head into the final stretch of the regular season, while Wyoming aims to bounce back and learn from its first setback of the year.Ā

The Bombers have their last home game of the season vs the Moeller Crusaders on Friday, February 7th. We are looking forward to honoring our six seniors and their families. With a win, the Bombers will clinch the GCL-South.Ā Ā
