Bombers Erupt in Second Half to Defeat La Salle, 28-7

Bombers earn their first GCL victory of the year & get win #6

RDI Stadium was rocking Friday night as St. Xavier pulled away in the second half to earn a statement 28–7 win over rival La Salle in the latest chapter of the "King of the Road" rivalry.

The game began as a defensive slugfest. Both teams traded early punts before Owen Davidson put St. X on the board midway through the second quarter with a 35-yard field goal, giving the Bombers a 3–0 lead. La Salle responded just before halftime, with quarterback Avier Carter finding Naseer Salaam for a 30-yard touchdown to take a 7–3 advantage into the break.

From there, it was all Bombers.

The St. X offense caught fire out of halftime, engineering a 13-play, 60-yard drive capped by Davidson's second field goal, cutting the deficit to 7–6. The defense then tightened, forcing back-to-back punts before the Bomber offense took over.

With 7:50 left in the fourth, quarterback Jackson Frey connected with Alex McClatchey for a 42-yard touchdown, and then found Cameron Taylor for the two-point conversion to give St. X its first lead since the first half, 14–7.

Moments later, the defense came up huge again. Jax Hendon intercepted Carter and returned it to the Lancer 25-yard line. Frey wasted no time, finding Taylor in the back of the end zone for a 20-yard strike to make it 28–7 after Davidson's extra point.

The Bombers' defense closed the door from there, highlighted by Justin Uhl's sack on fourth down deep in St. X territory to seal the victory.

Frey finished with three total touchdown passes, two to Taylor and one to McClatchey—while Daniel Vollmer paced the ground game with over 60 yards rushing and added a 65-yard receiving touchdown. The defensive unit, led by Brayden Reilly, Connor Bareswilt, and Griffin Lyons, held La Salle scoreless for the final 26 minutes.
