Football Tops Indianapolis Cathedral With Just Seconds Left in Game
 
In their season home opener, the Bombers welcomed friendly rival Indianapolis Cathedral to RDI Stadium last Friday night. 

The first quarter demonstrated scoreless back-and-forth possessions between the two teams until the last minute when quarterback Chase Herbstreit had a successful 8-yard rushing touchdown on a 3rd and Goal play. The Bombers led the Fighting Irish 7-0 moving forward into the 2nd quarter. 

Cathedral rebounded quickly just 7 plays later with a 15-yard reception touchdown to Cameron Koers, making the score 7-7. On the next drive, the Bombers forced back the ball to the Fighting Irish on Cathedral's 45-yard line. Cathedral quickly made their way down the field just a few plays later with a 36-yard rushing touchdown. 

On the next drive, the Bombers used a combination of rushing and passing plays to make their way back to Cathedral's territory. The drive was capped off by a 12-yard pass from Chase Herbstreit to Matthew Hoerst for another touchdown bringing the score to 14-14 at half. 

The Bombers widened their lead early in the 3rd quarter when Herbstreit connected with Cameron Taylor for a 15-yard passing touchdown. The back-and-forth continued for the two teams when Cathedral answered just two minutes later with a 22-yard rushing touchdown tying the score up at 21-21. 

Cathedral continued to put pressure on the Bombers as the Fighting Irish answered again with another passing touchdown for 27 yards. The Bombers trailed 28-21. The Bombers quickly made their way back down the field and tied it back up thanks to a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Chase Herbstreit making it 28-28. 
On the next drive, the St. Xavier defense held Cathedral to a 22-yard field goal with just 1:17 left to play. The Bombers trailed again 31-28. 

With just twelve seconds left in play, Herbstreit found Cameron Taylor for a 7-yard passing touchdown. The Bombers led 35-31 with just seconds to spare!! The Bombers secured their victory with a Shane Strayhorn interception on the following play. The Bombers won 35-31. They are are 2-1 on the season. 

Following their thrilling victory, the Bombers are at home again this Friday, September 13th vs. Withrow. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm at RDI Stadium and Ballaban Field.
