The 2024 St. Xavier Athletic Hall of Fame was held on Thursday, April 11 at St. Xavier High School. Over 650 were in attendance for the 40th annual Dinner and Induction as 6 new alumni were inducted into the Hall of Fame. The keynote was given by Jordan Cornette, '01, who is also in the Hall of Fame.

Jordan Cornette '01
A former member of the 2000 State Championship Basketball team at St. Xavier, Jordan Cornette currently serves as a sports host and analyst for NBC Sports. Prior to that, he was an in-game analyst for The Huddle, the ACC Network's most popular football studio show and was the host and in-game analyst for All ACC, the network's most popular nightly news and information show. During the college basketball season, Cornette worked as a studio host, studio analyst, and color commentator for ESPN networks. He was also the host of ESPN Radio's GameDay on the weekends with his wife and co-host Shae Peppler Cornette. They were the first married couple to host a national ESPN Radio show together.
Cornette was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in the Greater Cincinnati area and was a star basketball player at St. Xavier High School. From 2001 to 2005, he played basketball at Notre Dame. The former Fighting Irish forward was captain twice and has blocked more shots than anyone else in the team's history.
Cornette became a college basketball analyst for ESPN in 2018 and helped launch the ACC Network in 2019. In October 2021, Cornette got a promotion and became a co-host on ESPN+'s SportsNation, a show that shows highlights and has talk shows every weekday. In February 2022, he appeared on The Enquirer's "That's So Cincinnati" podcast to talk about his rise in broadcasting, the Cincinnati sportscaster who inspired him, and what it's like to work with his wife. James Barbiere '08 – Swimming & Diving
A 13-time All-American, member of 3 State Championship teams as well as 2 National Championship teams while at St. Xavier are only part of the legacy that Jimmy left in his athletic career. From 2006-2008, Jimmy was the state champion in 3 individual races (100 Backstroke) and 6 Relays (200 Medley, and 400 Free). He was named the Cincinnati Enquirer Swimmer of the Year, was Team Captain and MVP, and was also a 5-time individual National Champion for his club team. Jimmy went on to swim at Indiana University where he was a 16 time scorer at Big Ten Championships, 6 time NCAA All-American, 3-time Academic All Big Ten, finalist at US Open and National Championships and an Olympic Trial Qualifier.
Connor Buczek '11 - Lacrosse & Football
Currently the Head Lacrosse Coach at Cornell and considered one of the best Lacrosse players in St. Xavier history, Connor was a member of the United States U19 men's lacrosse team that won the gold medal at the 2012 IFL U19 World Championship and was a two-time high school All-American. He was a four-year letter winner at St. X, and was MVP & Team Captain his junior and senior seasons. He helped his team to back-to-back Region 4 championships in 2008 and 2009 and was named the 2011 Midwest Scholastic League Player of the Year as well as a two-time first-team All-MSLCA selection. He was named all-state and all-region three times and also set the St. Xavier record for most points in a single-season and most points in a career. He also lettered in football twice and was named all-GCL as a senior. Connor went on to play at Cornell where he was a three-time All-American and 2014 Ivy League Players of the Year.
Walt Gibler '08 – Basketball
Walt was a 3 year starter (05-08) and elected captain and MVP his senior year at St. Xavier. He was the 2
nd leading scorer in St. X history with 1204 points and helped lead the Bombers to state runner ups in 2007 and the final four in 2008. He earned 1
st team GCL for three years. After St. X, Walt played at Loyola University where he was a 2-time captain, and Horizon League 6
th Man of the Year. His senior year, he received the Cecil Coleman Medal of Honor- the highest individual award presented to the male Horizon League student-athlete in any sport who best exemplifies outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
Nick Larsen '00 - Football, Basketball
Nick's high school football career ended with a 21-3 overall record and two GCL Championships and a state runner up. He was names All GCL his junior and senior years, and received All District and the Tim Banker award his senior year. On the basketball court, Nick was on the All Ohio tournament team for the 2000 state champion St. Xavier basketball team. He went on to play at the College of Holy Cross where he started at wide receiver from the first game as Freshman. While there he was voted Senior captain and won the prestigious "Crusader of the Year" Award .
Lou Miller '06 - Football and Wrestling
Lou was a dominant football player and wrestler at St. Xavier and he then went on to continue both sports Columbia University. In football, Lou was 1
st team GCL, 1
st Team Southwest Ohio, and 2
nd Team all-State his senior year. He also led the 2005 State Championship team in sacks and tackles for losses. He ranks in the top ten all time in many defensive categories. In wrestling he was voted team captain and MVP his senior year. He also finished as GCL Champion, District Champion, and 5
th in the State. At Columbia University, Lou continued his football and wrestling careers. In football, he was voted team captain and defensive MVP his senior year and was two time 1
st team All- Ivy League and was a unanimous pick for All-Ivy League his senior year. He broke the all-time season sack record for Columbia with 17 and he earned a spot on the prestigious Columbia All-150 Anniversary Team. Lou also wrestled for Columbia University winning 44 career matches earning honorable mention All-Ivy league selection his senior year.
Mike Odioso '81 - Football
Mike is in his 25th year of teaching at St. X. He also coached football for at least 16 seasons. On the football field at St. X during his playing days he was highly recruited offensive lineman and had many Division I college scholarship offers. He chose to play at the University of Michigan for the legendary Bo Schembechler. Even though there aren't statistics, Mike was considered one of the best lineman to ever play at St. Xavier.
