This past Friday, the St. Xavier Bomber Football team hosted their final regular-season game at RDI Stadium & Ballaban Field. The evening highlighted several dominant offensive plays for the Bombers along with impressive defensive efforts. In addition to a strong team performance, St. Xavier senior players and student managers were honored for their commitment to the football program. It was a very memorable night!
On their first drive of the game, the Bombers got on the board quickly and early courtesy of a 14-yard rushing touchdown from senior
Chase Herbstreit (
Owen Davidson kick attempt good). Just moments later (on their second drive), St. Xavier added to their total again thanks to a 5-yard rushing touchdown from junior
Daniel Vollmer (another good kick attempt from Davidson). The scoring fest continued just a few plays later when Herbstreit connected with junior
Jake Britt for another passing touchdown (kick attempt good). The Bombers secured a 28-0 lead to end the 1st quarter thanks to back-up quarterback
Thomas George's passing 2-yard touchdown to senior
Chase Staderman (kick attempt good again).
The scoring total consistently climbed into the 2nd quarter when QB George found senior
Will Vinje for another 6 points, and a good kick attempt from
Nathan Glahn. Moments later, senior
Elijah Steele further added to the total on an 8-yard rushing touchdown (Glahn kick attempt good). St. Xavier chewed up the time (courtesy of a mercy-rule running clock), and Steele found the endzone yet again for another rushing touchdown late in the 3rd quarter, making it 49-0.
In the 4th quarter, senior
Trent Maxam rushed for a 10-yard touchdown in additon to a good kick attempt from junior
Drew Kovacs.
KJ Cammon capped off the night with another rushing touchdown to make the final score 62-0.
