St. Xavier Cross Country competed in the 2024 GCL Championship Meet this past weekend at Christ's Church (Mason, OH), and the Bombers came home victorious! They claimed their 14th Consecutive GCL title (and 27th overall in the program's history)!Â
St. Xavier had a team score of 23. Moeller was the runner-up with a 39. Elder followed with a 75, and La Salle had a final score of 114.Â
In the Boy's Varsity race, St. Xavier had several finishes in the top 10. Senior
Alex Bruns led the pack with a 15:44.7Â (1st) with junior
Dom Ellis right behind with a time of 16:12.6Â (2nd). Senior
Jack Nesbit (5th), senior
Landen Fernandez (7th), sophomore
Benjamin Wangugi (8th), senior
Owen Paul (9th), and senior
Nick Hartings (10th) followed within the bunch.Â
In the JV race, sophomore
William Louis was the top finisher with a time of 16:52.0 (1st). Sophomore
Liam Holman finished 2nd with a 17:10.2.
Aidan Dehring was right behind with a 17:36.3 (3rd), and junior
Colin Albers finished 4th with a 17:36.5. Sophomore
Ben Cahill also finished in the top 10 with an 18:13.1 (6th overall). Overall, the JV squad also claimed the title with an outstanding score of 16. Elder placed 2nd with a 40, and Moeller in 3rd with a 77.Â
The Freshman Team also finished on top with an overall team score of 24, beating out Elder (52), and Moeller (55).Â
Freshman
Owen Morwood claimed the title with a blistering time of 16:53.3.
Keegan Walton placed 3rd with an 18:10.4. Other notable racers in the top 10Â included
Brendan Childs (4th), Ray Najeem (7th),
Carlo DiBattista (9th), and
Sam Bruns (10th).Â
