Knight's Three Goals Propels Bombers Past Walnut Hills

Senior James Knight got busy early scoring two goals in the first seven minutes of action, and then completed his hat trick with a PK in the 50th minute as the Bombers took down Walnut Hills 6-2 in their home opener.

In a first half that featured six goals, the two teams combined for four of those in the first ten minutes of action. Walnut Hills got on board first with a 3rd minute goal, but the lead was short lived as Knight scored two goals just a minute apart to take a 2-1 lead. Just a few minutes later, Will Kleeman put a beautiful lead pass from Ty Reilly in the back of the net to make the score 3-1. After a 16th minute Eagle goal, the first half scoring came to a conclusion with a 28th minute PK from Daniel Campos bringing the score to 4-2.

After Knight's hat trick goal in the 50th minute, Ty Reilly finished off a corner kick just a minute later and the two teams played to a final score of 6-2.

The six goals for the Bomber offensive attack are the most in a regular season game since a 9-2 shellacking of Elder back in the 2020 season.

The win moves the Bombers to 3-0 on the young season as they stare down a trip to St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland this weekend to compete for the Jesuit Cup. St. Xavier takes on Walsh Jesuit on Saturday, August 26 at 3:00 pm. Depending on if they win or lose, they will take on the winner/loser of the St. Ignatius and Toledo St. John's Jesuit matchup on Sunday morning at 11:00 am.
