Soccer Falls to Moeller In Regional Semifinal
In a thrilling OHSAA regional semifinal, the St. Xavier Bombers faced off against their long-time rival, the undefeated Moeller Crusaders, in a match that had fans on the edge of their seats. The first half unfolded in a tense stalemate, with both teams battling fiercely but unable to find the back of the net, despite several near-misses that left the crowd buzzing.
As the clock wound down, Moeller's junior standout, Karson Lang, made a brilliant play, delivering a perfectly timed cross to sophomore Liam Breidenbach. With a deft touch, Breidenbach struck, sending the ball soaring into the net with just 19 minutes left in regulation. In the final moments of the game, the Bombers struggled to put a goal on the board, making the final score 0-1.Â
Despite the loss, the Bombers wrapped up their season with an impressive 11-7-1 record, finishing second in the Greater Catholic League conference. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our seniors for their unwavering dedication to the St. Xavier soccer program. Your contributions have left an indelible mark on our team's legacy. We also extend our gratitude to the coaches, families, and all players who made this season unforgettable.Â
