Bombers Finish 2nd in Quad

Hold on to First in GCL South

The first half of the season ended with a GCL-South Quad match at Crossgate Lanes.  The Bombers entered the match up in first at 3-0 followed by the Panthers at 2-1, the Lancers at 1-2, and the Moeller Crusaders at 0-3.  

 

The Lancers set the tone in game one with 4 bowlers rolling a 230 or better with Tyler Flannery rolling a 264 for La Salle.  The Bombers did their best to match with all 5 rolling 200+ games.  Keegan Barbee and Andrew Berkemeier rolled games of 226 and 225 while Connor Cahill added his 211 to the mix.  Tyler Brown and Aaron Bickford shot games of 202 and 200. The Panthers' high game was Ben Seger with a 224 and the Crusaders' Dominic Kwiatkowski was their high man with a 194.  At the end of one, the Bombers trailed by 73 pins.  La Salle sat in the lead with 1137, followed by the Bombers' 1064, Elder with 968, and Moeller at 780.  

 

In game two, Flannery completed his 506, match high for the day, set with a game of 242 for La Salle.  Moeller saw Thomas Dyjak cross the 200 threshold for a Crusader high of the day, 203 and Elder rolling three 200+ games with Seger the high man for the Panthers.  Keegan Barbee opened the second game with a 7 bagger on his way to a 243 and a 469 series.  Connor Cahill with a ball adjusmtnet rolled his season high series of 434 with a 223 game.  Andrew Berkemeier rolled his 5th 400+ series of the season with a 185 game 2 for a 410.  Aaron Bickford shot a 193 for a 393 series.  Going to bakers the Bombers needed to make up 174 pins.  La Salle shot a 2224, X with a 2050, Elder at 1935, and Moeller at 1697.  

 

In bakers, it looked like the Bombers may have had the fire power to take the GCL quad.  In games one and two the Bombers threw games of 235 and 208 while La Salle rolled games of 168 and 145.  With two to go, the Bombers had cut the lead to only 44 pins.  With the Lancers and Bombers trading games of 190 to 193 there was only 41 pins between them going to game four.  The Lancers pushed to a 194 in game four to seal the victory while the Bombers fell 9 pins shy of 800 with a game of 155.  La Salle rolled a baker series of 697, the Bombers threw 797, the Panthers put up 763, and the Crusaders threw 731.  

 

The final standings saw the La Salle Lancers at 2921, followed byt the St X Bombers at 2841, the Elder Panthers at 2698, and Moeller Crusaders at 2428.  The Lancers move to 5-2 on the season, the Bombers go to 7-3, the Panthers move to 6-3, and the Crusaders fall to 1-7.  

 

Bomber Strength:

In baker games one through three tonight, the Bombers closed 87.5% of their frames.  

 

Record Performances

Keegan Barbee's 469 series is the 70th best by a Bomber.  The teams 1064 game one is the 61st best team game in school history.  The Bombers end the first half of the season with 3 straight 2800 games.  

 

Upcoming Schedule:

The Bombers are off till the new year when they play host to the Taylor Yellow Jackets on January 3rd.  They will then roll at the Back 2 School Bash on January 7th before hosting the Moeller Crusaders on January 9th.  The Bombers are in action 11 times during the month of January.  

 

Around the GCL:

The Bombers hold sole possession of first with a 5-1 record followed by the Lancers at 4-2, the Panthers at 3-3, and the Crusaders at 0-7.
