Baseball Routs Shadyside HS in Break from GCL Play

Bomber baseball cruised to an easy victory over Shadyside 16-5 on Saturday, April 16th at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Shadyside fired up the offense in the first inning, after a single on a 1-2 count scored one run. However, the Bombers pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second Tommy Googins drew a walk, scoring one run, Matt Hartness singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Simeon Graves Jr. drew a walk, scoring one run, and Thomas Ryan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring another run.

Will Schultz was on the hill for St. Xavier, surrendering two runs on five hits over three innings, striking out six.

The Bombers racked up 13 hits on the day. Max Klare, Michael Gawkins, and Ryan each managed multiple hits for St. Xavier. Klare led the Bombers with four hits in five at bats. The Bomber defense was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Evan Weyler had the most chances in the field with six.

St. Xavier is back to GCL play with back-to-back matchups against Moeller High School. The Bombers are on the road at the Moeller Athletic Complex Wednesday, April 20th at 5:00 pm and then back home against the Crusaders on Thursday, April 21st at 5:00 pm.
