Late Score Costs Bombers Against Springboro

Tuesday's game against Springboro was a heartbreaker for Bomber Baseball as they lost the lead late in a 6-5 defeat. The game was tied at five with Springboro batting in the top of the ninth when a Panther doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

The Bombers struck first with a run in the first inning and two more in the third, but Springboro knotted the game up at 5-5 with a solo home run in the sixth inning. The two teams traded scoreless innings before Springboro was able to break through with the go ahead run in the ninth.

Luke Pappano got the start for St. Xavier, going four and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out five. Thomas Ryan and Logan Wells entered in relief from the bullpen, throwing three and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

The Bombers racked up eight hits in the game with Ryan, Max Klare, and Jack Metzger each collecting multiple hits.

The loss moves the Bombers to 4-3 on the year. They're back in action on Saturday when they travel to Chillicothe, OH to take on Shadyside High School. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm at VA Memorial Stadium.
