Bombers Make Cut at Blue and Gold Divisional Challenge

Finish 8th on Tough Sectionals Shot

The Bowling Bombers went north on Sunday February 6th to roll in the first ever Blue and Gold Divisional Challenge held by Alter and Kettering-Fairmont High Schools.  The field of 18 boys teams would compete on the new Sectional/District oil pattern in a 3 game individual series followed by 5 team baker games.  The field would then be cut to the top 8 to compete in a 2 game total pin count baker series in the championship bracket.

In game one, the Bombers rolled a 951 with big games from Jalen Morrow (216) and Jared Littelmann (211).  Euell Yohannes came in off the bench to finish game one with a 192, Zach Beard put up a 178, and Chris Obert shot a 154.  The Bombers found themselves trailing the cut line by 3 pins.

In game two, the Bombers ran into the transition and had difficulty converting on spare shots to finish with a 797.  Zach Beard was the only Bomber to improve in game two rolling a 181.  Jalen Morrow threw a 169 followed by Jared Littelmann with a 158.  The Bombers cleared the benches with Allen Rosal, Andrew Berkemier, Euell Yohannes, and Chris Obert putting up games of 148 and 141.  The Bombers fell a spot and trailed the cut line by only 50 pins.

In game 3, the Bombers would roll with the number 7 team in the field Troy High School who was 83 pins above the Bombers.  Jared Littelmann finished the day with a 604 series and a 235 game three.  Jalen Morrow rolled another 169 for a 554 series.  Zach Beard punched his highest game of the day with a 186 enroute to a 545.  Sophomore Andrew Berkemeier ended the day with a 163 series and Allen Rosal shot a 154.  The Bombers' 907 moved them back into the 9th position only 3 pins below the cut.  They out shot Troy by over a 100 pins dropping them below the cut line.

In bakers, the Bombers came out firing with games of 223, 162, 204, 181, and 213 for a 983 series.  This was enough to allow the Bombers to jump both Springboro and Lebanon to finish qualifying in the 7th position to face off against the number 2 team, Centerville.

In the championship bracket, The Bombers struggled in the 2 game set putting up games of 165 and 147 for a 312 total while Centerville finished with a 428 series.  The Bombers finish 8th in the tournament and Westerville Central goes on to win the tournament.
