Basketball Takes Home Opener - Gears Up for Big Weekend

After falling in their season opener on a neutral court to Hilliard Bradley, the Bomber Basketball program had a week off to prepare for their home opener this past Saturday, December 3rd.

They welcomed Whitehall-Yearling High School, out of the Columbus area, to the Berning Gymnasium to open the 2022-2023 home schedule. 

After playing a close first quarter in which the Bombers led 12-7, the home team exploded for 20+ points in each of the final three quarters for a 79-53 victory.

A trio of career-highs led the Bomber offensive attack. Donovan Waleskowski poured in a game-high of 28 points, Kyle Conner scored 16, and Gordy Sulfsted chipped in 12 points. The duo of Waleskowski and Conner combined to go 8-17 from beyond the arc. Led by Tommy Googins' 7 assists, the Bombers assisted on 22 of their 27 field goals. In total, 13 Bombers saw their name enter the scoring column.

With the first win of the season under their belt, the Bombers jump right into a busy schedule playing three games in three days this week. They are back at home on Friday December 9th, when they host Western Hills High School for a trio of games (4:30/6:00/7:30 pm). The Bombers will then play in two Varsity-only shootouts the final two days. First, on Saturday, the Bombers take on St. Henry High School (KY) on a neutral court at Newport HS at 12:00 pm. They end the weekend up in Centerville for the Centerville Elk Elite Showcase when they play Springfield High School at 1:45 pm.
