The Bowling Bombers entered Tuesday's GCL match against the Elder Panthers with an outside chance to tie for the league title. The Bombers would have to beat the Panthers on Tuesday and then again at the end of the year in the GCL quad. The Panthers beat the Bombers twice this season already.
In game one the Bombers opened up the scoring with long strings of strikes by both Jared Littelmann and Zack Beard. Jared finished game one with a 277 and Zack rolled a 234. Jalen Morrow shot a 204 and Allen Rosal completed his game with a 194. Chris Obert and Andrew Berkemeier put up a 174 between the two of them. Elder's only 200s was shot by CJ Herbers (211) and Zach Noeth (205). After one, the Bombers help an 183 pin lead with a score of 1083 to 900.
In game two, the schools switched pairs and switched success. The Bombers shot a 953 with Jared Littelmann shooting a 227 for a 504 series. Zack Beard hit a 189 to complete his 423 series. Jalen Morrow put up a 384 series with a second game of 180. Allen Rosal rolled a 189 to finish with a 383. Andrew Berkemeier and Chris Obert put up a shared 168. The Panthers found success on their pair with three games north of 200 led by Nathan Schroer and his 257 on their way to a 1040. After individuals, the Bombers lead was cut to 96 pins with a 2035 to 1940 score.
In the first bakers, the Bombers shot games of 187, 191, and 210 with the Panthers rolling games of 195, 252, and 203. Going to game four of bakers, the Bombers lead was 34 pins. The Bombers put up 5 strikes in a row to shoot a 214. The Panthers finished with a 7 strike streak on their way to a 255 and a 7 pin victory, 2845 - 2838. The Bombers fall to 5 and 5 overall and 3 and 4 in the GCL with the Panthers moving to 9 and 0 and 8 and 0 in the GCL.
Record Performances
In the loss, the Bombers shot some of their best games in school history. Jared Littelmann's game one 277 was the 29th best game in school history and his 504 two-game series is the 15th best series. As a team, the Bombers put up the 29th best team game (1083), 42nd team series (2838), and 66th best baker series (802).
Upcoming Schedule
The Bombers roll at home against the LaSalle Lancers on Thursday and then travel to Columbus and HP Lanes for the Winter Shootout on Saturday. The Bombers end January on the road with away games against Lakota West on the 25th and the Moeller Crusaders on the 27th. The Muskingum University tournament originally scheduled for January 17th has been rescheduled to February 13th.
