The GCL all-league awards were announced today with the Bombers taking away some great accolades for their regular season.
St. Xavier finished the regular season at 15-2, with a perfect 11-0 mark against non-league competition, while also posting wins against four teams ranked in their respective state polls during a 10-day period. In league action the Bombers went 4-2 including big wins over Elder and Moeller when they were each ranked #1 in the state.
Mike Noszka shared Coach of the Year honors with Elder. Noszka who, in just his second year, led the Bombers to their first league championship since the 2004-05 season. The GCL was once again one of the top conferences in the State of Ohio as the
Associated Press Division I final regular-season poll included St. Xavier at #2, Moeller at #3 and Elder at #5.
Capturing the co-player of the year honor was Senior
Kobe Rodgers. Rodgers saved his best for the final two-plus weeks of the season, helping St. Xavier take a six-game winning streak into the postseason by scoring 21 or more points in five of his final six games. He finished tied atop the league in scoring (18.2), was second in rebounding (7.5), first in steals (2.8) and second in assists (3.4).
St. Xavier's first-team selections are Rodgers and senior
Joe Kirby (11.4, 2.8 while shooting 78.9 percent on free throws) while second-team honors went to Senior
Kristopher McClure and Junior Louie Semona.
