St. Xavier Volleyball Wins Centerville Elite Tournament
The St. Xavier High School Varsity Volleyball Team captured the championship title at the 2025 Centerville Elite Tournament this past weekend, going undefeated against a competitive field that included Hilliard Darby, Archbishop Moeller, and Elder.
The Bombers opened the tournament with a decisive win over Hilliard Darby, powered by a standout performance from junior Joe Taggart, who recorded 21 kills. Senior Cam Evans led the offense with 43 assists, while junior Luke Sorce anchored the defense with 12 digs.
In the semifinal matchup against rival Archbishop Moeller, the Bombers continued to execute at a high level. Senior Matteo Romeo led with 11 kills, while Taggart added another 25 kills to his tally. Evans again delivered 45 assists, and Sorce contributed 14 digs, helping secure a straight-set win.
St. Xavier closed out the tournament with a strong performance in the championship match against Elder. The Bombers maintained composure and consistency, with Taggart contributing another 25 kills to bring his tournament total to 67. Evans recorded his third consecutive match with over 40 assists, while multiple players made key contributions offensively and defensively, including seniors Max Romeo, Matt Schulte, and Benjamin Soloria.
