The Bombers continued GCL play on Thursday December 9th against the 1-0 Elder Panthers.  The Bowling Bombers swept the Panthers last season in all GCL matches and bumped them from going to state at the end of the season last year.  With a win, the Bombers would have an early lead in the GCL, with a loss the Bombers would be pushed down to third in an always competitive GCL South.  

In game one, the Bombers were led by senior Jalen Morrow who put up a 222 game.  Andrew Berkemeier threw a 209 and Jared Littelmann shot a 191.  Zack Beard and Allen Rosal combined for a 178 while Chris Obert and Euell Yohannes finished game one with a 166.  The Elder Panthers rolled three games north of 200 to put up a team score of 1010.  The Bombers trailed by 44 pins putting up a team score of 966.

In game two, Andrew Berkemeier put up the front 10 before stoning an 8 pin and finishing the game with a 289 for a 498 series.  Jared Littelmann put up a 238 to complete his 429 and Jalen Morrow rolled a third 400 series for the Bombers with a 415 with a 193 game.  Chris Obert shot a 199 and Allen Rosal completed the Bombers day with a 183.  The Bombers finished game two with an 1102.  The Panthers saw there 44 pin lead evaporate to a 1 pin deficit when they shot a 1057 and saw 3 more 200+ games.  Going into bakers, the Bombers led 2068 to 2067.  

In game one of bakers, the Bombers expanded their lead to 23 pins with a 184 to 162 game.  In game two, the Panthers rolled a 205 and erased their deficit and took a 5 pin lead while the Bombers rolled a 177.  The Panthers expanded their lead in game 3 putting up a 223 to the Bombers 186.  Going into game 4, the Bombers trailed by 42 pins.  The Bombers pushed to a 210 game but it wasnt enough as Elder threw a 190.  The Bombers rolled a 757 in bakers while the Panthers shot a 780.  The Bombers lose on the road by 22 pins, 2847 to 2825.  The Panthers move to 2 and 0 (1 and 0 in GCL) while the Bombers move to 3 and 2 on the season (1 and 1 in the GCL).  

Record Performances
Andrew Berkemeier made the most of his first start.  His 289 cements his place as the fifth best game thrown in St X history and his 498 series is the 18th best two game series in school history.  The Bombers 1102 in game 2 was the 20th best team game in school history and their 2825 is the 51st best match series in school history.  \

Upcoming schedule
The Bombers are back at it on Sunday when they roll at Western Bowl in the Holiday Classic hosted by Elder and Seton.  The Bombers finished 9th last season in the Holiday classic.  On Tuesday, the Bombers travel across town to Crossgate Lanes to play in the first GCL Quad of the season and to wrap up the first half of the schedule.
