Bombers Strike Out Cardinals

Bombers Blow-up Bakers

On Wednesday, December 9th, the Bowling Bombers traveled to Colerain Bowl to take on the Cardinals of Colerain. This would be only the 6th time the two schools have met up against each other. Last season, the Cardinals won against the Bombers at their old home in Brentwood. The match was delayed as the lanes could not be prepared due to machine malfunction. The Bombers and Cardinals would be rolling this match on old oil from the night before.

In game one, the Bombers struggled to find a consistent shot on the worn out pattern shooting a 918. Junior's Allen Rosal and Zack Beard paced the Bombers with a 213 and a 195 with senior Owen Sena throwing a 190. Jalen Morrow getting his first start on varsity shot a 190 and sophomore Oscar Haughey shot a 143. Colerain shot an 830 in game one giving the Bombers an 88 pin lead.

In game two, the transition got to the Bombers as they rolled a 905 for a combined 1823. Sophomore Oscar Haughey shot a game high 203 to complete his 346 series and Senior Owen Sena threw a 201 for a 391 total on the day. Allen Rosal shot 177 for a 390, Jalen Morrow completed his day with a 172 for a 349 series, and Zack Beard shot a 152 to give himself a 346. The Cardinals pulled within 43 pins shooting a 950 for a first round total of 1780.

This would be as close as the Cardinals would get. The Bombers transitioned in Bakers to throw up a game 1 score of 220 to the Cardinals 173. In game 2, the Cardinals shot a 161 while the Bombers pushed the lead with a 222. In games 3 and 4 the Bombers rolled 209 and 193 to the Cardinals 180 and 193. The Bombers baker total was 844. The Bombers won 2667 over the Cards 2487. The Bombers move to 2-2 on the season and the Cards fall to 2-2 with their first out of conference loss. In the history of the program, around 382 matches, the Bombers have rolled an 800 series only 57 times going into this season. With this 844, this years team has done it twice in just four games. The 844 is 17th highest in the team record books. The Bombers have an off day on Thursday and then are guests at Western Bowl when they take on the Elder Panthers (1-1, 1-0) in the second GCL match of the season on Friday Night at 7PM. All Bowling Bomber varsity matches will be live streamed via Twitter.
