Matt Normile joined the St. X faculty in 2019 and the AquaBomber staff in 2020. He brings a deep background of Jesuit education combined with significant coaching and swimming successes. As a member of the Social Studies Department, he currently teaches AP United States History, as well as Intro to Psychology.
A St. Louis, Missouri native, Matt attended DeSmet Jesuit High School where he was a member of the swimming team. His accolades are remarkable:

In addition, swimming for Rookwood Swim club under Mary Liston and Jim Halliburton, he qualified for regional All-Star meets, as well as Junior and Senior Nationals.
Coach Normile’s achievements continued at Xavier University. Under the tutelage of former AquaBomber George Rathman, he swam to all-conference honors (Atlantic 10). He finished his four-year varsity career with Top 10 times in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 frees, and added Top 25 efforts in the 200 Fly and 400 IM. He was also part of the school record 800 Free Relay.
Normile’s coaching credentials are impressive as well. Prior to joining the Long Blue Lane, he was the head coach at Carroll High School in Dayton for 4 years and an assistant for 3. While at Carroll, the boys captured the GCL (Co-Ed) 3 times and the girls twice. The Patriots were top 10 at District all four years on the guys side and three on the girls. He coached the GCL (Co-ED) Swimmer of the Year six times during his tenure. His resume also includes coaching stops at Indian Hill Swim & Tennis Club and Blue Ash Y.
Coach Normile earned his BA in History (2006) and Masters in Education (2008) from XU, graduating with honors.
Matt and wife Rachel reside in Springboro, where they raise son Daniel and daughter Camilla. They are members of the Our Lady of Light Parish Family.
