Eric Breissinger

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Coach Eric “Beef” Breissinger has been a trend setter since his earliest days at St. X. He graduated from “Bomberville” as a National Merit Commended Student at 16 years of age. He was an All-American and multiple scorer at the Ohio Championship. Moving on to Yale, he continued to impress in and out of the pool. A scorer in multiple events at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swim League Championship, he earned four varsity letters and became the youngest team captain in school history. He also found time to play three years of varsity water polo. At 20, he earned his BA in Political Science with honors.

Upon graduation, he joined P&G. However, his aquatic pursuits were not ended by his outstanding professional career with the Fortune 500 company. Coach Breissinger began coaching at Berkley Aquatic Club before becoming head age group coach at Eastern Express. While in New Jersey, he was named head of the NJ All-Star squad leading it to its first Zone Championship. He was also selected as head coach of the US Swimming Eastern Zone Select Camp.

A return to Cincinnati resulted in stops with the Marlins, Anderson Barracudas/ME Lyons Y and Kingfish Aquatic. With the Barracudas and Kingfish, he held leadership positions, coaching top athletes in the respective programs. Most notably, his efforts played a major role in producing four consecutive Ohio Age Group crowns and numerous Y National top finishes.

But the best was still to come, as Coach “Beef” returned to his alma mater on the deck of Keating Natatorium. Joining the staff in 2013, he has been a part of ten Ohio Championships, six NISCA wins, and the Swimming World title in 2017.

Over the last 30+ years, Breissinger has coached dozens of athletes of all ages who have achieved Top 10 National Times, as well as All-American status. Always willing to pay if forward, he has been generous with his time and resources on behalf of St. Xavier. His generosity is matched by his enthusiasm and collaborative approach to activities away from the pool. Most recently Eric began his tenure on St. Xavier’s Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Board of Directors for St. Vincent De Paul of Cincinnati.

Currently president of P&G Global Family Care, he resides in Anderson Township with wife Ellen. They are the parents of Jack (’15), Peter (’17) and Bridget. It should be noted that his favorite sport is golf!
