Brandon Voorhies, who joined the AquaBombers staff in 2022, had had an impressive career as an athlete and coach. An honors graduate of Kings High Schools (2013), Voorhies was a two-time State qualifier and school record holder in multiple events – specializing in fly and distance free.
His next stop was Ohio State University where he earned his BS in biology. While a Buckeye, he swam on the club team and ultimately served as president, leading the squad to the College Club National Championship in 2016. It was during this period that he became and “unofficial” member of the Long Blue Lane working with several former AquaBombers including Andrew Brower and Joe Berno.
Voorhies served as head age group coach at Countryside Y (2018-21) where he developed numerous J O and National level swimmers. He also assisted with the Y National athletes who achieved top 8 finishes and USA Top 20 rankings.
It was also during this period that he spent two very successful seasons as head coach at Indian Hill High School. The Braves finished top ten twice at State, as well as multiple District crowns. He was named Cincinnati high school coach of the year in 2019.
Following his tenure at Countryside Y, he joined the Cincinnati Marlins where he now serves as Head Coach and CEO. As the National team coach, he oversees the entire program and in his tenure has guided numerous athletes to Sectional, Futures and ISCA championships and a dozen Top 50 USA rankings.
He and his wife, Kat, reside in Maineville along with Rusty and Goose (the dogs) and their three cats. Home projects and travel fill his limited free time.
