Brandon Unthank

  • Title
    Diving Coach

Diving and swimming at St. Xavier work collaboratively to insure that the program achieves its highest measure of success at the local, state, and national levels. This requires a significant effort to incorporate the two endeavors in and out of the water. Coach Brandon Unthank, who joined the AquaBombers in 2016 insures that the integration takes place.

Coach Unthank has brought his 20+ years of experience coaching the sport of diving to the AquaBombers program. Over his years he has coached divers of all ages, elementary through Masters, and managed many different teams throughout his career. Countless amounts of his divers have gone on to win conference championships, state championships, national championships and even NCAA Championships, amongst many other personal and team accomplishments/records.

Unthank graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2012, with a degree in middle school education. He achieved numerous honors during his time at UC, including Dean’s List, the “Fellowship Award” and the “Big Brother Award”, while active in his honors fraternity, Phi Sigma Chi. His educational background serves his students well, as he is on the faculty at Rapid Run Middle School in the Oak Hills Local School District, where he is working in their EBD unit.

When not coaching or teaching, Brandon enjoys spending time with his three boys. He likes to volunteer his time coaching his children’s sports: baseball, soccer, football, diving (of course) and more! They love exploring amusement parks, national parks, camping and any fun that they can find outdoors. When not off on adventures, Brandon and his boys enjoy a night in, where they enjoy eating pizza and playing games. His dedication to family, education and diving are manifested in a positive way on a daily basis.
