Box Score Bomber Football Comes Up Short in Season Opener at Lakota West
Friday Night Football is back, and the Bombers opened their season on the road at Lakota West last Friday, August 23rd. On a perfect summer night, St. Xavier fans and students filled the stands with white apparel, excitement, and pride!
Early in the 1st quarter, quarterback
Chase Herbstreit rushed for 8 yards for the first touchdown of the game. Kicker
Drew Kovacs kicked for the extra point, and the Bombers led 7-0 early in the contest.
The Lakota West Firebirds quickly answered in the 2nd quarter with a 7-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Sam Wiles. Just minutes later, Lakota West wide receiver Trey Barnette caught a 22-yard touchdown to make the score 14-7 at halftime. The Firebirds continued with a 37-yard field goal in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Chase Herbstreit rushed for a 1-yard touchdown with just 53 seconds left in the game, but the Bombers came up just short in the end.
