Soccer Takes Down West Clermont, Advances To District Final

Opening the 2024 OHSAA post-season Tournament, the St. Xavier Bombers hosted the West Clermont Wolves for District Semi-Finals at RDI Stadium & Ballaban Field. Coming into the matchup, West Clermont sat at an overall record of 4-11-2, while the St. Xavier Bombers had a 9-6-1 season record. St. Xavier showcased their prowess on the field, delivering an impressive 6-0 victory over the Wolves. The home crowd was treated to a thrilling start as the Bombers wasted no time establishing their dominance.

Just 1 minute into the match, junior David Jackson set the tone with a perfectly timed finish after a precise cross from senior Charlie Lynch, putting the Bombers on the scoreboard early. The excitement only grew from there, with junior Alex Haddad weaving between several defenders and eventually finding the back of the net in the 6th minute, executing a brilliant snipe to the back post.

By the 8th minute, sophomore Jack Sweeney added to the tally with a stunning rip to the top left corner off a volley. The Bombers continued their relentless attack, and in the 9th minute, Charlie Lynch delivered another perfect cross, which Haddad converted with ease, giving him his 2nd goal on the night. With just 10 minutes into the match, the Bombers had a dominant 4-0 lead.

The second half saw the Bombers maintaining their stronghold with a solid defense and fluid offensive play. Despite numerous attempts, the scoreboard remained unchanged until the 77th minute. Junior Rowdy Scheer further sealed West Clermont's fate, when he tipped in a goal following a well-placed cross from sophomore Jack Dunn. To cap off the night, junior Kenji Perez Pena set up a beautiful center pass at the top of the goalbox to junior Sam DeMarco, making it 6-0 in the 79th minute.

With the final whistle blowing, the Bombers celebrated a decisive 6-0 victory. The Bombers will look to carry this momentum into the OHSAA District Finals this Saturday, October 26th. They will face Little Miami High School at 7:00pm AT Loveland High School (Tiger Stadium).
