Offensive Outburst Leads to Opening Round Victory for Bomber Baseball

Bomber Baseball scored early and often as a four-run first inning all but put their first round playoff contest out of reach.

After making quick work of Edgewood in the top half of the first, the Bombers scored four-runs on three hits to take an early 4-0 lead through one inning. Their lead stayed in check until the teams traded runs between the 3rd and 4th innings before the Bombers put the Cougars away for good with a pair of three-run innings in the 5th and 6th.

The Bomber offensive attack finished with 11-runs off eight hits. They were led by Michael Gawkins (2-2, 2 RBI) and Brennan Hileman (2-3, 3 RBI, 3B), each responsible for multple hits on the evening. Hileman also is responsible for the game's winning run - a stolen home plate in the bottom of the 6th inning to incite a run rule.

The win advances the Bombers to the second round of the Southwest 1 Sectional where they'll travel to West Clermont to take on the Wolves at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 18th. Tickets for that matchup and all of Bomber Athletics' postseason play can be bought at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets.
