Baseball Stays Undefeated in GCL Play

Baseball Stays Undefeated in GCL Play

After a 5-0 start to the season, Bomber Baseball dropped their first contest of the year in a walk off to Wapakoneta on Saturday, April 8th by a score of 6-5.

They returned to play on Monday by welcoming La Salle to campus for their second GCL contest of the year - winning 9-5 in the process.

It was a big first inning that set the tone for St. Xavier as they poured in 5-runs in their first at bat. They proceeded to score another run in the second and two more in the third to take an 8-0 lead through three innings.

A four-run Lancer 4th inning wasn't enough to spark a rally and the two teams traded runs in the 5th and 6th before the Bombers took the victory.

Brennan Hileman led the Bombers with a perfect 3-3 mark from the batter's box, bringing in three runs in the process. Grant Garrett and Jack O'Malley each tallied a 2-4 mark with two RBIs a piece.

Jack Ryan got the start for the Bombers, going 3.1 innings with four strikeouts, but it was Jackson Campbell who stepped in for 2.1 innings and picked up the W.

The Bombers move to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in GCL play. They will finish off the first round of GCL action with a trip to the Moeller Athletic Complex to take on the Crusaders on April 12th at 5:00 pm. All tickets MUST be purchased online before hand. Tickets can be purchased here.
