Hang's Record Setting Performance Vaults AquaBombers into District Lead

Gavin Hang [SR] had a night that will long be remembered, as he finished first at the Southwest Ohio District Diving championship. His score of 582.70 established a new St. X record, previously held by Andy Kendrick and narrowly missed the all-time record of Dean Panero (Sycamore). The defending District champ and All-American had plenty of company as David Gerth [SR] placed 9^th (354.35) points and Josh Garza [SO] 13^th (306.45), all with personal bests. Andrew Policastro [FR]also made the District field and finished 20^th.

The 33 points earned by the trio places St. X in first heading into the swimming events. Hang will dive on Tuesday in Canton, as the top seven in the district qualify for State.

COACHES COMMENTS –

"Gavin and his teammates have worked extremely hard to reach this level of competence. We certainly are looking forward to more great things from all of the divers," reflected an obviously delighted diving coach Brandon Unthank.

"I have had the opportunity to watch Gavin multiple times. He's a great athlete and wonderful ambassador of the sport and St. X," commented coach Tim Beerman.

"It is indeed St. X Diving and Swimming," noted head coach Dave Albert.
