Sectional Victory #53 in the Books

The Long Blue Lane dove and swam to its 53rd consecutive Cincinnati Sectional title on Friday.  Winning 9 of 12 events was impressive, as was the fact that every swimmer and diver advanced to the District championship.  St. X racked up 694 points followed by Elder (324) and Oak Hills (28) in a field of eleven.

Juniors Alex Ingram, Thackston McMullan and Max Ward were triple winners:
Ingram – 200 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay
McMullan – 500 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay
Ward – 50 Free, 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay

Other multiple champions were:
Luca Eckert [SR] – 100 Free, 400 Free Relay
Jaeger Ellerman [SO] – 200 Medley Relay, 100 Breast
Kyle Silvestain [SR] – 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay

Rounding out the victorious 200 Medley were Chase Dillon [SR] and Adam Wade [SR].

Gavin Hang [SR] posted another impressive outing eclipsing the 500 point total and claiming gold.

Every performance by the 22 athletes finished in the top 8.

The Distance Dudes were again impressive as McMullan, Ingram, Nick Stroh [SR] and Chase Grisi [FR] went 1 – 4.  Ingram and McMullan were joined by Luca Eckert and Braydon Myers [SR] in going 1 – 4 in the 200 Free.  Nearly as impressive were the 100 Free finishes of Luca Eckert, Dillon, Wade and Liam Bien [SO] – 1, 2, 3, 5.

COACHES COMMENTS –

"Our guys stepped up and punched their tickets to Districts.  A solid performance by all," reported head coach Dave Albert.

"Sectionals always present unique challenges in the training cycle.  We raced well and advance," reflected assistant head coach Jim Brower.

"The opportunity to learn and improve as we move forward are two significant elements we can take away from this event," offered coach Eric Breissinger.
