Football Advances Past Springboro, Turns to Moeller in Anticipated Rematch
The Bombers took down Springboro on Friday night at RDI Stadium, 35-13. The Bomber win advances them to the Regional Quarterfinal where they will host GCL foe, Moeller High School.
The Bombers started strong scoring the first 21 points of the game including two rushing touchdowns from senior running back Steven Napier and a 72-yard punt return from senior safety Andrew Weber.
The teams exchanged touchdowns before the end of the half, though sophomore Brayden Reilly blocked Springboro's extra point making the score 28-6 at the break.
Springboro answered early in the second half with a 63-yard touchdown pass following a timeout on a third and long cutting the lead to 28-13.
After consecutive three-and-outs from each team, Andrew Weber returned another punt for a touchdown, this time for an 86-yard score to extend the Bomber lead to 35-13. Weber finished with 4 punt returns for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Bombers held on to win by that score.
Junior quarterback Chase Herbstreit threw for 109 yards. Sophomore running back Jacob Britt led the Bombers in rushing barreling his way to 133 yards and a touchdown.
The Bombers now prepare to host 5-seed Moeller on Friday night, November 3rd in the Regional Quarterfinal. The Bombers dropped the previous matchup this season in Dayton, 20-10.
