Divers "Hang" an Exclamation Mark on GCL Title

Led by senior All-American Gavin Hang, the St. X divers put on quite a show Saturday, January 28^th at the University of Cincinnati's Keating Aquatic Center. The diving event wrapped up the 78^th League crown for The Long Blue Lane (63^rd consecutive). Hang was joined on the podium by fellow senior David Gerth (3^rd), Joshua Garza [SO] (4^th) and Nicholas Petrocelli [FR] (5^th).

Gavin's score established a new school record (6 dive meet) and goes into the history books as the first ever 3 time GCL diving champion. The divers racked up 49 points resulting in a total of 491. Moeller finished with 345, Elder 189 and LaSalle 109.

An extremely enthusiastic group of parents, friends, families, fans and teammates were on hand to witness divers from Moeller, as well as Ursuline, St. Ursula, Seton and Mercy McAuley. It will be back to work for these athletes as they prepare for the Sectional/District/State run.

"I'm so pleased to see our divers contribute in such a meaningful way to the AquaBomber program.There is no doubt how significant a role they play in the team's approach to a comprehensive culture," observed diving coach Brandon Unthank.

"The divers not only have a positive impact on the scoreboard, but they enhance our journey together.Truly amazing the development of these guys," reflected head coach Dave Albert.

"To have so many swimmer and coaches in attendance was a significant endorsement of the fact that it is St. Xavier Diving and Swimming.Linking arms to sing the alma mater was very special," noted assistant head coach Tom Keefe.
