North Bend Road Win Goes to AquaBombers

Displaying a largely youthful line-up, St. Xavier defeated LaSalle 209-77 on Thursday, January 5. It was a great start to the New Year, as the home team captured 10 of 11 events. Leading the way were multiple freshmen winners: Brayden Scott (200 Free, 100 Free, 400 Free Relay), Sam DeMarco (200 Medley Relay, 50 Free, 200 Free Relay), Andrew Clippard (500 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay), and Alex Nixon (100 Back).

Joining the winning party were Nick Rucker [SO] (200 IM) and Ben Trujillo [SR] (100 Fly, 200 Medley Relay). Freshman Aidan Smith was part of two victorious relays (200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay), as was sophomore Myles Connock (200 Free, 400 Relay).

The Long Blue Lane went 1 – 4 in the 200 Free (Scott, Clippard, Nixon, Hendrix Cross [SO] and followed up with a sweep in the IM with Rucker, Gokul Vamadeva [FR], Connnock, and Smith. The night concluded with a 1 – 2 finish in the 400 Free Relay – "A" (Clippard, Scott, Connock, Smith) and (Nixon, Trujillo, Cross and Nabil Sinno [FR].

COACHES COMMENTS –

"Thursday night duals are special at Keating. Tonight was no exception. We continue to make progress," noted head coach Dave Albert.

"In many cases, the guys had a chance to swim some different events. It's gratifying to see the results," analyzed coach Zach Vogelpohl.

"From our first finish to our last, we threw down lifetime best efforts. We appreciate LaSalle being a part of our schedule and competing well," summarized assistant head coach Tom Keefe.
