Late Header Secures Victory in Crucial Road Matchup

Late Header Secures Victory in Crucial Road Matchup

Bomber Soccer traveled across town to take on Walnut Hills in a contest that could prove crucial to playoff seeding.

After just over 60-minutes of scoreless soccer, Trey Wynn soared through the crowd to head in a James Jackson free kick with 19-minutes remaining in the contest to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead. That proved to be the game winner as the Bombers were able to hold off several Walnut Hill runs.

The win will go a long way in playoff seeding at the end of the season. The Bombers currently sit at 4th in the first Southwest Ohio Soccer Coaches Assoication poll, released on August 19th, and Walnut Hills sits at 11th. St. Xavier has already beaten Anderson, who sits in 2nd, and still gets to play Mason (1st), Moeller (2nd), Lakota West (5th), and Sycamore (9th).

The Bombers were ranked as 12th in the first OHSAA State Coach's Poll. They've already lost to St. Ignatius, the state's top ranked team, and still have Centerville (2nd), Mason (4th), Olentangy Liberty (6th), and Moeller (7th) left on their schedule.

St. Xavier's back in action on Saturday, September 10th at 7:00 pm when they welcome Lakota West to RDI Stadium. JV kicks things off at 5:00 pm with Varsity to follow. Get your tickets here!
