Bomber Soccer Closes First Round of GCL Play Unbeaten

The day after maintaining their top-five position in the statewide polls, Bomber Soccer welcomed the Elder Panthers to RDI Stadium to close out the first cycle of GCL play.

The Panthers got on the board first as they stunned the Bombers to take an early 1-0 lead.

Reece Heisel provided the equalizer with six minutes remaining in the first half and Daniel Campos gave the Bombers the lead just two minutes later as they went into intermission up 2-1.

The Campos goal proved to be the game winner as the two teams played even soccer in the second half.

After the early goal, senior goalkeeper Luke Eckert settled in and finished with four crucial saves for the Bombers.

St. Xavier moves to 6-1-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in GCL play as they sit tied atop the standings. They take a quick break from conference play to travel to Mason High School this Saturday for a matchup of the top two teams in the city.

The match is a triple header with freshman playing at 10:00 am, JV at 12:00 pm, and Varsity at 2:00 pm. Tickets can only be purchased online by clicking here.
