The entire St. Xavier football program will travel to Chicago on Saturday, August 27 to take on fellow Jesuit school, Loyola Academy. The trip is the culmination of several months of planning and preparation after the invitation came from ESPN. The network reached out to St. X as they wanted to feature some of the best schools and football programs in the country. The Bombers were set to play the Ramblers on Sunday at 1pm Eastern, but then the decision was made to take the Freshman and JV teams up as well to make it a weekend of Jesuit football.
The Freshman will kick the weekend off as they play at 1:30 Eastern followed by the JV at 3:30 Eastern. After the JV game, the families and players from both St. Xavier and Loyola Academy will come together to celebrate mass and then have fellowship and dinner together.
Sunday is the big day as the Bombers and Ramblers face-off at 1pm Eastern. The game will be broadcast on ESPN with St. X's own Rocky Boiman serving as one of the commentators for the game.
It will be a great weekend of sharing our Jesuit mission and bringing together one of the top teams in Ohio and one of the top teams in Illinois in an epic football showdown.
