ST. XAVIER SWIMMING AND DIVING WINS DISTRICT

Projected to earn another Southwest District championship by 56 swimming points, the AquaBombers dug in deeper and added another 68.5 points to their tally. The top three teams in the District were St. X (445.5), Beavercreek (324.5) and Mason (240). Beavercreek produced the most wins in the meet with six followed by the Long Blue Lane's three. However, quality depth was again the name of the game for the "Blue Hairs" as they outscored the competition in eleven of twelve events. It marked the 59^th District crown (54^th consecutive) for St. Xavier Swimming and Diving. The meet was held at Miami's Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday, February 19.

The team was represented by 23 athletes and 21 got in the scoring column led by Thackston McMullan [SOPH] and diver Gavin Hang [JR] (500 Free and Diving respectively). However, these two event winners had plenty of company when the awards were presented. Other Top 8 finishers:

Every participant posted a season best effort for St. X. Most notably, the 3 relays produced All-American performances as did McMullan's 200 Free. The meet itself produced 28 All-American swims.
But the results from the District are significant as the top 24 statewide move on to the State Champions at Canton February 25 and 26. The Long Blue Lane will have a long blue lane upon arrival. Punching tickets for Canton:

Dublin Jerome is the favorite coming out of Districts followed by Beavercreek and St. X.

"The folks at Miami run a great meet. We greatly appreciate the efforts of so many to give us a chance to compete at such a high level. Winning the Southwest District in Ohio is no small achievement." commented assistant head coach Tom Keefe.

"We continue to improve and at this time of the year that certainly is a necessity. Fast meet for sure," concluded coach Eric Breissinger.
