Advent Advantage Goes to AquaBombers

St. Xavier hosted several other Catholic squads on Saturday at Keating Natatorium.  Joining the Long Blue Lane were McNicholas, Purcell and Roger Bacon.  In addition, St. Ursula Academy got in on the action on the girls' side.

The "home team" swam to wins in 7 of the 11 events.  The depth of St. X was most prominent in the relays as they finished on top in all three.

200 Free Relay

A good crowd was on hand to witness the first home meet of the year.  But, the excitement generated in and out of the water by the athletes made for a fast paced and high energy session.  Particularly impressive were the 500 guys (Jacob Schlessman, Charles O'Connor [SO], Evan Cornwall [JR], and Nikolas Wibowo who all posted lifetime bests and swam remarkably disciplined races.

The meet followed the annual faculty/staff pool party, making for plenty of action at "Bomberville".

COACHES COMMENTS –

"Coach Dave Albert, our parents and officials deserve so much credit for hosting this competition.  Our guys were really excited from start to finish," observed coach Don DiGiacomo.

"Watching athletes compete for the first time is a very moving experience.  It's gratifying to watch their performances and then reactions," offered coach Zach Vogelpohl.

"Coaches Gerry Vondenbrink, John Zink and Luke DiGiacomo contributed so much to our successes.  Lots of moveable parts, but we were moving in the same direction.  Quite a day," summarized head coach Dave Albert.
